Agriculture | Along with the reluctant acceptance of religious groups and activities in officially atheist Cuba, the Internet is the "other fire" the Government of Cuba is trying to control. Cuba's effort to control "unfettered access" to the Internet is about as ineffective as that of China. The Internet "genie" is out of the bottle in Cuba. There is a tremendous, growing black market access to the Internet in Cuba. Many Cuban entrepreneurs sell their products and services directly to the global community from their webpages and through email contacts. Cuba has opened numerous CyberCafes for local Cubans and foreign tourists to use. The US Interests Section in Havana allows Cuban journalists to use its Internet facilities weekly. See Internet Cuba for more details of the Internet in Cuba. |
